Talk about finger food. On December 20, 2015, Cathleen Martin of Atascadero, California visited her local Applebee's with her family and ordered a Chinese chicken salad. Midway through the meal, Martin saw something in the salad that didn't look like it came from a chicken. It was discovered to be a slice of a finger; the manager confirmed the slice was from an employee who injured himself while making it. In spite of Applebee's apologies and a retraining of its staff, the woman is suing for unspecified damages -

Ok, this one isn't disgusting, but it's weird and has a happy ending. Lindsay Hasz and her husband went out on a date night to the Montalcino Ristorante Italiano restaurant in Issaquah, Washington. She ordered her favorite seafood and pasta dish. When she took a bite, she bit down on something hard, but instead of alerting staff, she pocketed the small stone, thinking there was a long shot it might be a pearl. Well, her hunch was right: upon inspection by a gemologist, it was found to be a rare Quahog pearl, worth $600. (The woman decided to make a necklace with it.) -
4.
Aliona Russo went to the Villagio Italian restaurant in New York and ordered seafood, but ended up with a much less pleasing surprise in her plate. Baked into her Bronzini was a 2-inch fish hook complete with a bit of fishing line, which she accidentally bit into and pierced her tongue. She sued the restaurant for damages, but the restaurant has countersued, saying the hook was planted as extortion. -

A patron of Lin's Chinese Buffet in El Paso, Texas was horrified when she saw a tail in her food and pulled out a field mouse. She notified the local news and dangled the mouse in front of the camera. The manager denied the accusations, saying the woman planted it. Lin's Buffet has had a series of health violations in the past, repeatedly failing surprise inspections. The weekend after the mouse incident, Lin's failed the inspection once again. -

It's a common urban legend that angry servers secretly spit in food or drinks. Most of the time, there's no actual proof it happens. Until June of 2015, when Ken and Julie Aluzzo Yerdon were at a Chilis and complained to the manager about poor service from waiter Gregory Lamica. They asked to get their food and drinks to go, and on the way home they noticed one of the drinks had a large gob of spit in it. Unable to confront the waiter directly, they called the police, who ordered a DNA test. Three months later it came back positive, and Lamica confessed to the deed. He was sentenced to one-year probation and fined $125. -
7.
Ryan Burke was working at Good Foods To Go in Evesham, New Jersey when Officer Jeremy Merck came in and bought a bagel sandwich. Burke recognized Merck as the cop who gave him a ticket a year earlier, so he decided to seek revenge. He yanked some of his pubic hair and put it on top of Merck's turkey, cheese, and egg bagel. The cop didn't find the pubes until after he had bitten into the sandwich. Burke was fired immediately. He got 15 days in jail, two years of probation, and was fined $14,000. -

In March 2016, a New Zealand woman bought her favorite brand of sausage and was feeding it to her baby, when he spat something out. When she looked at it more closely, she realized it was a rat's foot that had likely gone through a meat processor. She contacted the supermarket who offered her a refund. Both the sausage company, Tegel, and the Ministry of Health were notified. -

An unnamed woman from Saratov, Russia thought she smelled a rat. It turned out that a rat's head had been baked into a loaf of bread she bought from her favorite bakery. She showed the pictures to the media (shown above) and vowed never to buy her bread from the store again. -

A Utah woman opened a can of Western Family green beans and put them in a slow cooker. Upon removing them, she noticed one bean that looked like it was burnt; when she picked it up with the spoon, that's when she saw the snake eyes. She screamed and dropped the spoon. The company apologized and said they were looking into the matter. The green beans were taken off the menu.
